APRIL 2024
This month we have been enjoying a taste of the busier days that come with the warmer weather. Our summer calendar is starting to fill up with events that we are excited to share with you!
After last year's success, we are delighted to be working alongside the Taybank team to host their summer Sunday Brunches. A seasonal dish from the Taybank kitchen, alongside a selection of ARAN sweet and savoury bakes will be served in a relaxed, communal setting overlooking the river. Plenty of tea, coffee and cocktails available too! The brunches will be held on the 14th of July and 18th of August. If you are interested in finding out more, or securing yourself a spot, click here.
ARAN and LON Store have been invited back as a stallholder at the Guardswell Evening Markets. The first market is on the 8th of May, from 3pm onwards. We will be there with a range of ARAN and LON products, including sourdough loaves and focaccia, cookies and traybakes, granola, pantry staples and preserves galore. The market is a fantastic opportunity to substitute your weekly supermarket shop for a local, sustainable and low-waste alternative. Not to mention the added bonus of spending a couple of hours in the beautiful countryside surrounding Guardswell; a real midweek treat! We do hope you pop along to see us, alongside the other wonderful stallholders who are taking part in this event.
The sunnier days this month have seen the kitchen team baking away with the doors open. We are enjoying using local spring produce in our new menu; plenty of Dunkeld wild garlic has been gathered by Gillian and Ruth for our Goats Cheese and Wild Garlic Danish. Our danishes are topped with Danhead Farm asparagus, which is available to buy from our wee fridge in the bakery and LON Store, if you fancy having a go at making these yourself. Other savoury options this month include a Bacon, Lettuce, Roasted Tomato Focaccia Sandwich or a Pea and Mint Hummus, Tahini and Mizuna Leaf Seeded Roll. If it’s a sweet treat you’re after, then our Brown Sugar Tart or Pain Suisse (pastry, creme pat and chocolate; all the good things in life) might just do the trick. Iced coffees are available too!
This month we welcomed Frankie to the bakery team. Frankie is well acquainted with the bakery world, having worked with some of our fellow bakers in Edinburgh and has fitted in like a dream - welcome Frankie! And hello again to Shedden sisters, Hebe and Willow, who are returning to help out over the summer months. It’s great to have you back!
Finally, a wee note for your diaries: the bakery will be closed on Tuesday 28th May for staff training. LON Store will be open as normal from 10am.
That’s all for now - do pop in and see us if you’re passing!
With love,
Team ARAN x
