We hope you’ve been able to get out and enjoy the sunnier July days. Our month seemed to be filled with summer events, various menu plans, and of course the usual croissant consuming…

In early July we were lucky to be landed with the most glorious sunshine for our first brunch of the year with the Taybank. By the end we almost felt a bit too hot! It was great to meet all those who had travelled far and wide to be there. We greatly appreciate everyone making the trip and hope you enjoyed the experience as much as we did. You can watch our highlights from the day here. The next brunch is on the 18th of August but is now sadly sold out. Hopefully we will see some of you there and if not we will keep you updated as soon as we have any other dates or events in the pipeline.

It was a pleasure as always to be at the Guardswell market this month. We will be back at the next market on Wednesday 14th August from 3pm, which means LON Store will be closed for the day. ARAN Bakery will be open as normal from 9.30am-3.30pm. If you’ve not made it along to one of the markets, do try to fit one in this year. The market provides a refreshing midweek evening escape, plus you can fill your basket with the best local Scottish produce going!

Our summer menu will be changing in early August, so if the Gooseberry & Frangipane Tart is your favourite, or the Roasted Tomato & Grana Padano Danish, be sure to get your fill! We have lots of delicious new items to share with you soon. Just a reminder that if you are not local and would like to make sure a specific item is available for you passing, you can absolutely phone or email ahead to place an order and we will make sure your items are popped aside for you.

Some of our team are soon heading off on their very well deserved summer holidays, which means our bread quantities will be reduced slightly over the next few weeks. Please see details below for upcoming bread availability - apologies for any inconvenience!

  • WB 29th July - bread on Friday and Saturday only

  • WB 5th August - bread on Friday and Saturday only

  • WB 12th & 19th August - normal (Wednesday-Saturday)

  • WB 26th - nae bread

Finally, on Wednesday we bid farewell to one of our bakers, Iona, who is off on an adventure to Denmark! Iona has secured a position working at the renowned Juno bakery in Copenhagen. Iona has worked exceptionally hard since starting in the kitchen and has inspired us with her dedication to learning new skills and pursuing a range of hobbies, ranging from crazy bike rides and wild swimming to dry stone wall dyking. We will miss you (and your delicious linseed baguettes) dearly. Plans for a work trip to Copenhagen (for research purposes only of course…) are already in the making.
